Alexander Jarvis for State Representative

Libertarian • Michigan House District 104

"Live Free. Lower Taxes. Less Government."

Where I Stand

As everyday people in Northern Michigan, we are feeling the squeeze of government overreach, inflation, and excessive regulations. Below is a deeper look at my core positions on the key issues affecting District 104.

Taxes & Government Spending

The state continues to spend, spend, spend, as families struggle with the rising cost of living. Families and individuals know how to spend their hard-earned money far better than bureaucrats in government. I will advocate for cutting state income taxes, removing property tax, eliminating wasteful spending projects, and keeping more of your money where it belongs: in your pocket.

Small Business

Small businesses are the backbone of a healthy economy, they offer important competition to large companies that drive prices down and fuel employment in rural areas. Excessive state mandates, licensing requirements, and bureaucratic red tape stall local economic growth and burden independent workers. I will vote to tear down regulations that hinder local enterprise and agricultural independence.

Individual Rights & Privacy

Your personal life and choices are strictly your business, not the government's. I am committed to defending individual civil liberties across the board. This includes protecting freedom of association, ending state-level government surveillance overreach, and ensuring your property remains your property, without this nonsense idea you have to pay for it forever or have it stolen from you by the state.

Property Rights & Private Ownership

Private property is foundational to a free society. Whether it is unreasonable zoning restrictions, heavy-handed land mandates, or administrative overreach, I will work to protect your property rights against interference from state agencies.

Gun Ownership

Gun Rights are a foundation of this country, your rights to bear arms are explicitly protected under the second amendment. I will vote to expand gun rights and restore the 2nd Amendment to how it is meant to be, Free of Infringment.

Economy

I will push for policies that allow for more market competition, policies that drive down cost of living and policies that favor the bold who are willing to put in the work to create jobs and products right here in District 104.

Illegal Immigration

True liberty requires both free choice and personal responsibility. In a genuinely free society, individuals maintain full freedom of association, the right to enter into private contracts, trade, hire, and live alongside whomever they choose without state interference. However, open borders cannot coexist with a modern taxpayer-funded welfare state. When government intervention forces taxpayers to subsidize public services, healthcare, education, and social safety nets for non-citizens without consent, immigration, legal or illegal, ceases to be a matter of voluntary interaction. Coercive taxation to fund state dependency violates the rights of existing citizens and distorts natural market incentives. I will vote to reinstate Freedom of Association, to remove citizen dependency on the state, and eliminate the mandatory taxation towards those whom the existing population have not consented to fund.
